If you want to know the authentic and less touristy side of Venice, you can't miss this tour of Rialto and the Jewish Quarter. This is a brilliant trip into the past of one of the most beautiful cities on the planet.
Tour Details
At the selected time, we'll meet up next to Santa Lucia Station and begin our fantastic walking tour through some of the most beautiful and lesser-known corners of Venice.
We'll head into the old Jewish quarter via the Ponte delle Guglie (Bridge of the Needles) and start exploring the streets of the district from which the word 'ghetto' originated. During the walk, the guide will tell us all about its history and what life was like for the Jewish community in past times.
Our tour continues as we stroll down Strada Nova, the principal pedestrian high street in Venice. We'll reach Rialto, historically the commercial and financial center of the city. Besides enjoying fabulous views of the Rialto bridge, you can also enjoy a 'cicchetto' snack whilst soaking up the vibrant atmosphere.
After this stop, we'll continue walking until we reach the iconic Piazza San Marco square. Then, having taken some photos, we'll climb aboard a motorboat to enjoy a half-hour boat ride around Venice.
The tour then comes to an end back at the departure point after a total of about 2 hours.
End of the Tour
At the end of the tour in St Mark's Square, the guide will ask whether you'd like to board the boat back to the starting point or finish the tour in St Mark's and continue exploring Venice on your own. Although this transport option is included in the price of the tour, this boat ride is not mandatory, so please confirm your participation with the guide as soon as they ask.
Important Info
Please note that in the event of bad weather or adverse weather conditions, the boat trip is not guaranteed. If you cannot take the boat, the activity will end at St. Mark's Square and will not be refundable.
Gondola Ride
If the whole group is in agreement, it's possible to enjoy a ferry-gondola ride across the Grand Canal. The price of this ride is 2EUR per person. Please note that this activity is not available during the winter months.
Morning Tour
If you choose to do the morning tour, please note that the itinerary will be done in reverse. Therefore, the starting point will be in front of the Cornoldi barracks (Caserma Cornoldi, in Riva degli Schiavoni), and the tour will end at the Santa Lucia train station.
